Healing the Wounds, an Armed Forces charity based in Tondu, Bridgend, delivers treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to serving personnel, Veterans and the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services.  We also provide support to their families, who unfortunately can often suffer PTSD ‘by proxy’.

The charity realized the need to provide a place for our Forces heroes to receive treatment for PTSD and recover from what they have had to endure through the course of doing their duty, during conflicts past and present.

Parc Y Scarlets was the venue for an incredible morning spent in the company of Hollywood A list actor Michael Sheen on Tuesday the 10th April. The Welsh born patron of Healing the Wounds Armed Forces Charity, gave his valuable time to speak with Veterans, who have been treated by the charity for post traumatic stress.

Michael spoke to four Veterans and their partners and heard the account of life as a sufferer of combat trauma and the debilitating effect it has had on themselves and their families on leaving the Forces. The actor was particularly interested to learn how the process of their individually tailored treatment had changed negative attitudes to life in general, to ones of utmost positivity.

Also present as a host at Parc Y Scarlets was former Wales International legend Gareth Jenkins, who took a keen interest in the charity and together with commercial director Rupert Moon, provided the Scarlets venue for the charity to deliver treatment to Veterans.

Founder of Healing the Wounds, Kevin Richards commented, " We have been very fortunate to have Michael as a Patron of the Charity and feel privileged that a Welsh actor whose roots are in Port Talbot, has taken such a genuine interest in the charity and the plight of our Veterans suffering post trauma "

Michael has requested that he be kept up to date on the charities progression toward its quest to acquire a short term residential treatment facility in Wales, to enable the continued support of our Veterans and their families.
