Healing the Wounds, an Armed Forces charity based in Tondu, Bridgend, delivers treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to serving personnel, Veterans and the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services. We also provide support to their families, who unfortunately can often suffer PTSD ‘by proxy’.
The charity realized the need to provide a place for our Forces heroes to receive treatment for PTSD and recover from what they have had to endure through the course of doing their duty, during conflicts past and present.

Hugh Williams was a soldier through and through and his passion for the Forces continued until December 2011, when he sadly passed away.
Hugh joined the Army as a young Welsh Guardsman of which he was extremely proud and continued his career in the Royal Engineers. After leaving the Royal Engineers, Hugh found himself involved in running the Army Cadets at Llanidloes as a Lieutenant, where for 20 years he took pride in preparing young cadets for their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
After retirement, Hugh found another passion raising funds for Healing the Wounds, together with his wife Olive, they began to save pennies, here is a photo where they can be seen together counting them.

A staunch and active member of the Montgomeryshire Welsh Guards Association, Hugh received a funeral with full Military Honours in Marshpool Mid Wales, which many of his friends, family and members of the Welsh Guards attended.
Funds in lieu of flowers of £370, were kindly donated to Healing the Wounds charity to help those members of the Forces who are suffering from post traumatic stress through conflict.
Our sincere thanks go to Hugh's wife Olive Williams and his daughter Cheryl Whittingham for contacting Healing the Wounds and making this much needed donation, our thoughts are with you for the loss of Welsh Guard, Hugh Williams, may he now rest in peace, sadly gone but will always be remembered as a soldier who was proud to serve his country.
